Chapter 16- Food Poisoning?!
After they got back home, Brent settled Anna in her crib for a nap so he could sit at the dining table and chat with Manny. He turned the computer screen toward him, "Babe. I found a couple tickets to Guatemala for just $394.17. You thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Going on vacation ourselves?"
"Bingo!"
"Sure. When?"
"Next month. Say... the seventeenth...?"
"Sounds good to me," Manny yawned and leaned over into him. "Now what are you and I going to do about lunch? 'Cause I'm starving!"
"How does Chinese take-out sound to you?"
"Amazing, actually."

"How's your Sweet 'n Sour chicken?"
"Okay... And your General Tso's chicken?"
Brent suddenly choked and reached for his glass of water- chugging the entire thing down, "Super spicy!"
"Told ya you should've gone for somethin' a little more mellow. *groan*."
"Are you alright?!," Brent asked.
"I- I think I'm gonna be sick!!!"
Manny's hand flew to his mouth and he bolted from his seat. There was the sound of retching and coughing down the hall and Brent grimaced. He got up and walked over to the closed bathroom door to knock on it.
"Don't come in, Brent. Trust me. You do NOT wanna see this."
After a few minutes, the toilet flushed and Manny stepped out- wiping his forehead with a damp washcloth. "I don't think the Cubano sat well in my stomach. That felt absolutely awful!"
"So you're saying you think you may have food poisoning?"
"Oh, no...," Manny doubled over when another wave of pain hit him like a truck. "Yes."
"Why don't you go lie down for a while, then? I'll take care of the chores."
"Thank you. Wake me if there's anything I can help with at all."
Brent nodded but couldn't help but think to himself as he headed over to the sink, 'I don't think that's food poisoning he has. It certainly doesn't happen THAT fast!"

Chapter 52- An Unwanted Visitor
After hanging up, Sam heard the squeak of a door being opened then Brent's voice say, "Who was that?"
He was standing beside her with his arms crossed over his chest. She sighed heavily, "Patrick Patrickson. A coworker."
"What's he calling you for at close to eight in the morning?"
"He asked how Flint, Anna and I were doing, then proceeded to ask how your fiancé was holding up. I explained to him that Manny is engaged, though I didn't say to whom, that you guys had adopted a little boy from Guatemala and that he just gave birth. He told me that he's going to catch the first flight to here at sunrise to

Chapter 51- There's Something You Need To Know...
After her friend had shown Sam his flashback, he fell asleep cradling Dakota in his arms and she moved to allow Brent onto the bed to join his lover. She watched as he draped an arm around Manny's shoulders and drew him close- giving him and their baby each a tender kiss. It was at that moment that her cell phone went off and she quickly ran into the closet to take the call.
"What do you want, Patrick?," she said with an eye roll- knowing damn well he couldn't see it through the other end of the line and thankful for that.
"No need for the attitude, Samantha. I'm just calling to check in o

Chapter 50- Labor of Love
When Sam opens her eyes, she's floating upside down in a bubble of water while a thick, pink-purple cord extends from her tummy to the placenta, which is attached to her father's pancreas. It's warm, dark and quiet (aside from the beating of Manny's heart and muffled voices just outside the abdominal wall). The perfect conditions for a developing baby. She stretches and yawns before closing her eyes and falling back asleep.

Something's not quite right. There's a build up of pressure, which increases and pushes Sam further down into the pelvic cavity.
"Unghh..."

Chapter 34- The Calm Before the Storm
You know that feeling just before a storm hits? When the air is thick and still, and it's dead silent? That's what Sam and I were experiencing as I drove down the deserted highway. We were the only ones out there, and I really couldn't blame the poor bastard who wanted to sit it out and just watch all Hell break loose from the safety of his own home. That thing was MASSIVE. Even though it was still dark, I guessed that our supercell was peaking at up to 12,000 miles and it's base at least two miles wide.
*Zzzzz*
I raised an eyebrow quizzically and glanced over to see my partner slumped into her window-
